The Beacon Guide Program
The Smart Start to Networking for Life
It's not unusual for new members of any organization to feel a bit overwhelmed when first joining it. Beacon takes our motto of "Networking for Life" seriously -- and this begins from the moment a person becomes a Beacon member. The goal of the Guide Program is to reach out to all new members and connect them with experienced Beacon members. We call these experienced members Guides.
Guides work with their assigned new members for their first three months of membership -- and it begins with a meeting. During this meeting, Guides will talk with their new members about their goals and how they would like to optimize their new Beacon membership. This can include identifying which Beacon subgroups or committees will be good matches, explaining the ins and outs of our website or even introducing them to other Beacon members.
The Guide Program is one of Beacon's ways to engage all members - from new members just gaining a taste of how to best benefit from their membership to experienced Beacon members who want to have an impact on how members grab hold to all that Beacon membership can offer.
To get started with your Guide, go to "Manage Profile" and "edit bio" - near the bottom of the page you will see a "Guide Locations" field. Simply select the geographic area where a meeting with your Guide would be most convenient and a Guide in that area will be assigned to you. You will receive an email confirming the assignment.
