With elections looming, what’s on the horizon for nonprofits? Join us for a discussion on the political landscape weeks before the 2016 election. Much attention has been focused on the Presidential election this year, but statewide races promise to have a significant impact as well. This program will provide an opportunity to engage in a dialogue on the upcoming November elections and its impact to the city and region.
Our speaker is Barbara Saverino, Director of Public Policy for United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ)
Barbara leads the public policy and advocacy efforts of United Way on a city, state and federal level. She also assists with the Pre-K for PA and Campaign for Fair Education Funding campaign.
Throughout her career, Barbara has worked on identifying ways to engage the community in advocacy, creating partnerships to increase volunteerism and support of education. Prior to joining UWGPSNJ in 2012, Barbara was a Vice President at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce where she worked with Chamber leadership, members and partners to research, develop and implement organization’s positions, policies, and initiatives to strengthen region’s human talent .
Barbara is a graduate of Drexel University. She currently serves on United Way of Pennsylvania Board of Directors, Northern Liberties Neighbors Association Board, Urban Design Committee, Philly Fellows Board and St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church Council.
