Dr Renee Baker, Senior Manager with Aberdeen Assets Management and Adjunct Professor of Marketing @ University of Wilmington, has researched "the Baker Paradox" (now renamed "The Brexit Paradox") and its impact on Philadelphia investors in global economies.

"Brexit and the NIMBY mentality about immigrants and foreign invements show that our perspectives are narrowing.  It's no secret that there's a 'home bias' when Americans (or Brits) select investment opportunities.  Yet, at the same time, we want to tell investors - other than ourselves - why they should have a global mindset and vet investments from our ecosystems in a favourable way."  This paradox vexes anyone who is championing biz investments from abroad to people with provincial mindsets - and is what successful global investment funds like Aberdeen have to overcome, to build a successful following in Philadelphia.  Hear Dr Baker talk about her research and her experience in this world.

Dr Baker, both as a researcher and an executive with Aberdeen Investors, will share her insights bringing growth investments from Japan, Israel, Indonesia and Latin America to the attention of North American investors - and some fun vignettes about Aberdeen's choice of Philadelphia as their North American launchpad. Dr Baker is an articulate and eloquent speaker with a unique global (and local) perspective.  Our host, Greenberg-Traurig, is Philadelphia's premier law firm for growth businesses and transactions in Israel, Latin America and other growth markets.  Please register in advance for building security at Greenberg-Traurig - no walk-ins permitted.

Location: Greenberg Traurig Law Offices - 2001 Market St - Centre City Philadelphia
