The New Executive Presence:

Measuring and Developing the Influence Factor in Future Leaders

Talent management leaders know that executive presence is a critical factor in a leader’s ability to inspire people, align teams, and drive results. However, the definition of “EP” has often been mysterious and elusive, and some leaders mischaracterize it as merely gravitas or charisma - soft skills that aren’t critical to the business strategy.

When you’re assessing and developing the talent pipeline, how can you change the conversation and help future leaders understand the connection between presence and business results? In this session, led by Bill Macaux of Bates Communications, you’ll learn about a fresh, ground-breaking approach based on recent research.

This research and model takes EP to a deeper level, and reveals the 15 unique facets that allow leaders to sustain goal-directed action in an organization. You’ll discover:

• Why those who say executive presence isn’t tied to organizational performance are wrong

• The reasons it’s been almost impossible to get people around the table to agree on a

    definition of EP

• How measuring executive presence could transform the leadership development conversation

• Strategies for assessing, measuring, and developing EP in leaders as part of your talent

   management plans

Bill will facilitate a provocative and in-depth discussion on executive presence that is sure to stimulate new ways of thinking about the topic.

Bill is the Senior Vice President of Executive Development at Bates Communications, a firm that specializes in helping executive increase their influence skills through communication and executive presence.  Bill’s focus is on developing research-based approaches to executive assessment and development.  Prior to joining Bates, Bill served as Managing Director at RHR International Company, an international management psychology consultancy. Before that, he played similar roles with Right Management. His early career started with IBM and also includes several years at Cisco.
