Ann Duke is a practicing corporate attorney, but she joined the Private Equity Group while she was part of an investment group that founded a community bank. Ms. Duke is an attorney with Gawthrop, Greenwood, PC, where she has an extensive corporate law practice. Ms. Duke's practice includes business transactions, corporate finance, business and strategic planning, corporate governance, banking, mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Duke also specializes in succession and estate planning for business owners.
Ms. Duke has a varied entrepreneurial background as well. She has owned several businesses, including a computer services business and a publishing business. Her most recent venture came with the community bank. She initially served on the board then took a more active role at the Board’s request, acting first as the bank's General Counsel and then as a senior executive with the company, overseeing retail sales and marketing. During her fourteen month tenure, Ms. Duke turned around a failing business unit, opened a new geographical market for the bank, and grew deposits through branches and the website by 17%. After facilitating the bank’s transition to new management, Ms. Duke resumed her law practice in 2007.
Ms. Duke is politically active as well. She was elected Chester County Treasurer in 2009 and is currently serving a four-year term. Ms. Duke served on West Chester Borough Council from 1998-2002, where she was Chair of the Finance & Budget Committee, which oversees budgeting and the borough’s police and municipal pensions.
