THE HISTORY OF GPSEG

Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG) was founded by Chris Pavlides in May, 2002.

In the pursuit of a more meaningful and efficient networking formula for senior executives, Chris Pavlides came up with an effective, personable networking approach he called the Power Networking Breakfast. He also introduced the motto "Networking For Life".

At the beginning, the group functioned as a possible local chapter of the NYC-based International Executive Resources Group. After the first meeting, it became evident that the group needed to expand to senior executives (CEOs and direct reports to CEOs) of all industries and functions in the region, with no requirement for international experience. In June 2002, the group adopted the GPSEG name and its current admission criteria.

In January 2003, a GPSEG management team was established to enhance decision making and distribute the work necessary to support the rapid growth and increasing activities of the group. In February 2003, special-interest subgroups began forming to provide a more concentrated forum for members of similar backgrounds or interests. The first meeting of the Private Equity subgroup was held Feb. 24, 2003. The CEO Roundtable and the Entrepreneurs Circle subgroups followed and met in March, 2003. A Sales & Marketing subgroup was formed in November, 2003 and a non-profit subgroup was started in June, 2004. Additional subgroups were formed as needed and requested by the members. As of early 2009, GPSEG has 19 different subgroups and programs located in the Philadelphia region, Lehigh Valley and southern New Jersey.
